Technology – everything from our computer to our mobile phone – appears to have invaded every area of our contemporary lives. But we often don’t take complete advantage of the features and benefits that could really make our lives simpler. Follow these technology tips to achieve your goals:

Set alarms.

Use the alerts on your computer or mobile phones to keep you on task and focusing for certain blocks of time you want to set aside to work on your targets. Look for free online software applications that enable you to set timers and alarms directly on your computer. Or keep it simple, go get the trusty kitchen timer and get back to work!

Track your hours.

Want to know how long you are REALLY using on activities like email, online shopping, and Farmville? Use an online service such as to monitor time on various activities. You’ll be surprised by the close of the day how long spent on non-productive activities when you are not paying attention.

Apart from keeping you honest about this wasted time you can flip between a couple of real jobs and be able to see where your focus has been on these projects. So even time well-spent could be monitored with the aim of remaining ON track.

Join a group.

Combine a forum or email list of people that are working on similar goals as you are. Have a look at or to locate email lists on literally every subject you can imagine Whether you are starting a business, founding a nonprofit, attempting to shed weight, or writing a book, you will find a group that is suitable for you.
Remember, you do not need these forums or groups to take your attention away from your everyday activities and goals, but the information and assistance of a bunch of like-minded people can be invaluable.

Track your progress.

Use Excel’s charting option to make a continuous chart or chart of your progress. Print it out or use it as your screen-saver for additional motivation. If we maintain precise dimensions as we move along toward our objectives, simply jotting this down measured progress in laptops is fine, but why not use technology to broaden your knowledge, tweaking data to provide you with even more information that may be helpful in the future.

Set reminders.

You can set reminder emails on your computer or calls on your mobile phone. After the call or email comes in, you know it’s time to break away for a planning session or carry out another step on your listing. Don’t attempt to keep your schedule on the mind. Let technology do it for you and free up your mind for the actual work… achieving your targets!

Mind mapping is an excellent way to determine steps towards a goal, determine priorities, and also write blog articles, books, and much more. Find mentors.

Whether you want someone to have a look at your business plan or help you find out the tax consequences of hiring a worker, you will discover amazing mentors in every area. Request successful colleagues to suggest a few names or do a quick Google search to see available alternatives. The thing to remember is somebody has done it before – whatever it is – and is quite often happy to help someone just starting out with the identical aim.


Working on new projects can be lonely, especially when you are stretching yourself out of your comfort zones. Even if you’re not searching for an accountability partner at the moment, you’re still able to network with others in the same industry, sharing resources and war stories. Or simply vent – that is important, too!

There are tens of thousands of videos made for everything from the appropriate form for push-ups to the way to set up a WordPress blog. Log on Twitter or Facebook and ask away. Within minutes you will have a lot of replies – for free! You won’t need to get stuck waiting for comments before you can proceed. Social media is an excellent choice for getting feedback and answers to all of your needs.

Blog your experiences.

Everyone enjoys a fantastic success story, especially one from an”ordinary” person. Start a blog and make an online journal of your journey towards your objective. Not only will you have the motivation of understanding your site readers are after your efforts, but you’ll also probably get feedback from the readers which will trigger all kinds of new ideas – you might get an information product in the making.

Ask for assistance.

Every once in a while, you might require an impromptu cheerleader. Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets are fantastic for that very thing. Let your followers know when you simply have to hear a”You can do it!” You’ll be surprised by how many people have walked in your shoes and are delighted to chime in and give you a thumbs-up, at-a-boy, or at-a-girl.
